At Ahlul Bayt (AS) University, the International Iftar Festival was held
According to the public relations of Ahlul Bayt (AS) International University, the International Iftar Festival was held on Tuesday evening with the presence of Dr. Hashem Dadashpour, Deputy Minister of Science and Head of the Student Affairs Organization, and Hojatoleslam Dr. Saeed Jazaeri, the President of Ahlul Bayt (AS) University, along with the students of the university.
The report states that at the beginning of the festival, students from Ahlul Bayt (AS) University, who come from various countries, first performed congregational prayers after the Maghrib call to prayer. Then, they gathered for a brief iftar at the festival venue, acquainting themselves with the cultural manners and style of iftar among their friends from other Islamic countries. Finally, valuable prizes were awarded to the winners of the festival and winners in artistic and sports fields of student activities.
The significance of honoring the ancient and sacred tradition of iftar was also emphasized in this festival. Additionally, during the event, Hojatoleslam Dr. Saeed Jazaeri, the President of Ahlul Bayt (AS) University, congratulated the New Persian Year and the arrival of Eid al-Fitr, stating in his speech: “In verse 185 of Surah Al-Baqarah,( شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدًى لِلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَاتٍ مِنَ الْهُدَىٰ وَالْفُرْقَانِ…» ) ‘The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion…’ God shows that the month of Ramadan is a month of guidance.”
Students of Ahlul Bayt (AS) University Should Think about Reviving Islamic Civilization
Following the ceremony, Dr. Hashem Dadashpour, Deputy Minister of Science and Head of the Student Affairs Organization, also congratulated the New Persian Year and the arrival of Eid al-Fitr, stating in his speech: “The world of science is undergoing a particular change. Events that have occurred over the past twenty or thirty years show that the geography of science, once dominated by the Western world, is changing, which has also had an impact on politics, and we are moving from a unipolar world to a multipolar one, both scientifically and politically.”
He added: “Today, scientists all over the world confirm the change in the geography of science and politics. When this happens, a change in civilizational identity also takes shape. Among the efforts made in Iran, it is evident that Iran has sought to enhance its scientific position. In today’s world, Iran is seen as a scientific hub, acknowledged by all countries and various scientific institutions as being among the top 15 countries globally in terms of scientific ranking in at least one field. However, more effort is needed beyond what has been achieved.”
Referring to a recent statement by the leadership during a meeting with students, the head of the Student Affairs Organization stated: “They said that the university is a place for educating scholars, producing knowledge, and directing the training of scholars and knowledge production. The first and second parts occur in all universities worldwide. So, what stands out here is that our direction in knowledge production and scholars must be towards a civilization that shapes Islamic identity and lifestyle. Islamic countries must be able to shape Islamic civilization, but unfortunately, Islamic countries do not hold a proper place in knowledge production today. Therefore, we must strive to educate scientific leaders towards shaping Islamic identity and civilization. In comparison to global knowledge production, the share of Islamic countries is very low. Islamic countries contribute almost six to seven percent of the total science in the world, despite Muslims constituting at least one-fourth of the world’s population. We must bridge this gap and establish our position in reviving Islamic civilization.”
The Deputy Minister of Science stated that undoubtedly, the preamble to Islamic civilization is scientific authority. In Islamic countries, without achieving scientific authority, the emergence and flourishing of Islamic civilization are not possible. Therefore, all Muslims must find their place in the multipolar scientific world, and all students of this university must find their scientific position in the Islamic world. Islamic lifestyle is a style for the global community; therefore, we must be able to extend it to the whole world. Students of Ahlul Bayt (AS) University have a great responsibility to think about reviving Islamic civilization in the world, despite individual and collective life in the Islamic style and consolidating their scientific authority
