Scholarly Session on Self-Management

Scholarly Session on Self-Management

A scholarly session on self-management was held on Monday April 18th, 2022. In attendance was Dr. Ali Gholami, faculty member at Imam Sadegh (AS) University.

According to the public relations department of Ahlul Bayt (AS) International University, Dr. Ali Gholami pointed out that people must pick the best option out of our opportunities: “we all face situations where we don’t act to resolve our problems either because we are lazy or that we are afraid of the answer we receive. We have to ask two questions here: why do we suddenly feel hopeless in a short span of time? And what is it that gives us hope in life?”

He stated: “the Prophet said: ‘how fortunate is he whose flaws keeps him from talking about the flaws of others.’ The reason why people don’t like being alone and crave being with others is that they don’t know themselves. Self-management is to control one’s behavior in order to identify and utilize all of one’s existence. In fact, one who doesn’t know themselves cannot control one’s self either. One who is ignorant cannot guide others. There are several phases of self-management; self-awareness, self-confidence, aiming towards better conditions, organizing, execution, and assessment.”

Gholami added: “indeed, self-management can affect one’s body, heart, mind, and senses. For instance, one can manage themselves by exercise, diet, and hygiene.”

It is worth noting that at the end of session, students joined the conversation and ask questions.
