Trends in the history and position of the history of Islam and Shiism among them:

Today, in parallel with the various categories that history has been presented in terms of content and periodicity in the world, the field of history has become a different trend in Iranian universities. Until recently, the field was based on the four major trends in the history of ancient Iran, the history of Iran in the Islamic era, the history of Islam, and the history of the world based on the history of Europe. Besides, among the five major trends in the field of theology and Islamic studies, one trend is dedicated to the history of Islamic culture and civilization. However, in recent years, new trends like the history of Shiism, the history of the Islamic Revolution, the history of the Persian Gulf, historical studies of Central Asia and the Caucasus, the history of science, and the trend of archives and historical documents have been added to the history of Iranian universities. In the meantime, Ahlul Bayt International University has included the field of Islamic history among its master’s degree programs. The main approach of Islamic history in this university is mainly based on the history of Twelver Shiism.

Students will take up to 32 core credits during their course, regardless of compensatory courses. The main courses of Islamic history cover a wide range of topics related to the historical issues of Islamic culture and civilization. Since the subject of bibliographies and aristocracy on historical sources and documents is an inevitable necessity in any historical study, the course of familiarity with the sources and references of Islamic history as well as two courses of historical texts in Persian and Arabic languages have been considered. In the field of Shiite political life, two independent lessons have been considered under the title of Shiite political history. During these courses, students will get acquainted with the most important Shiite governments and emirates from the beginning to the contemporary period. To better understand the historical atlas of Shiism, the lesson of the historical geography of Islam has been predicted based on the East of the Islamic world, in which major Shiite communities and states, especially in recent centuries, have emerged.
