Ahlul bayt International University annually awards a limited number of Conditional Type-A Scholarships to eligible international students.
- Application & Selection Process:
Applications for the Conditional Type-A Scholarship are evaluated by the Admissions and Recruitment Council, and applicants will be notified upon university approval. Scholarships are awarded based on the applicant’s academic record and a scientific interview. Priority is given to applicants from Islamic countries and top academic talents.
- Types of Scholarships Defined:
- Conditional Type-A Scholarship: Fully covers all term expenses—including tuition, accommodation, and meal plans—provided the student maintains a Grade Point Average (GPA) of no less than 17.00 out of 20 (or equivalent) for that semester. Failure to meet the GPA requirement will forfeit Type-A benefits for that semester, converting the scholarship status to Type-B.
- Type-B Scholarship: Waives all tuition/educational fees, while accommodation and meal costs remain the student’s responsibility.
- Type-C Scholarship (Self-Funded): The student is fully responsible for all academic and living expenses.
- Registration Fee & Currency Requirements:
Upon arrival at the university for final registration, all students are required to pay a non-refundable fee of $100 in cash to cover registration and visa issuance costs. Please note that all student-related fees throughout the course of study will be calculated and billed in US Dollars (USD).
- Conditions of receiving a scholarship
- Maximum age of 24 for B.A., 28 for M.A., and 32 for PhD. Note: if the applicant has special qualifications, the university would consider giving them a scholarship regardless of the age restrictions.
- Minimum score of 17 out of 20 (80 out of 100) in all courses leading up to the selected course at the ABU.
- Compatibility of the chosen field with the applicant’s last degree.
- Graduated from prestigious universities.
Persian Language Proficiency Requirement:
Students from countries other than Afghanistan are required to attend a minimum seven-month Persian language training program at the Persian Language Center and successfully pass the course. In accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran, enrollment in the main degree program is contingent upon obtaining a Persian Language Proficiency Test certificate, the fee for which shall be borne by the student. Consequently, all non-Persian speaking students must participate in these language courses. Additionally, these students are required to pay a $50 fee to the university for Persian language instructional materials and textbooks.
Meal Services and Summer Recess Policy:
Meal services—comprising lunch and dinner—are provided from Saturday through Wednesday, and students must reserve their meals weekly via the dedicated portal upon payment of the designated fee. Breakfast throughout the week, as well as lunch and dinner on Thursdays, Fridays, and official public holidays of the Islamic Republic of Iran, are the sole responsibility of the student. Please note that Persian cuisine is cooked and served during weekdays. Should summer courses not be offered, all accommodation, meal, and related living expenses during the summer recess shall be borne entirely by the student, regardless of their scholarship status.
Commitment to Full-Time Status and Non-Employment:
Students must formally commit to refraining from any form of employment or commercial activity, as well as abstaining from concurrent enrollment in any other universities or academic institutions.
